Mama Elsa

Project Description

Kulawo is banana blossom in smoked coconut milk. It is a tedious cooking method done by grilling coconut meat before extracting the milk, making it a rare find in any Filipino Restaurant. Mama Elsa’s Kulawo comes from a family heirloom dish that garnered popularity as a made-to-order freshly cooked Kulawo back in 2009.

It offers Kulawong Talong (eggplant), and Kulawong Puso (banana blossom). With the banana blossom being suitable as a bottled delicacy, Mama Elsa’s took the lead and made it available in the market in 2019. Now, the brand is under L’s 888 Food Products, a micro-manufacturing business in Alaminos, Laguna. Mama Elsa’s Kulawo aims to preserve and promote this Southern Tagalog culinary heritage and bring its goodness to every household table. Kulawo is best partnered with rice, fried or grilled fish, seafood, or meat.

With ingredients that are natural and plant-based, it is a good source of vitamin C, A and E, fiber, and potassium; treats infections; overcomes diabetes; slows aging process; boosts mood; reduces anxiety; treats digestive problems; and improves lactation and menstrual health.
